It is with great sadness that we share with you news of the passing yesterday of our much loved and valued friend, Charles Whiley.
Charles brought great wisdom and insight to his role on the Board of the Pride Shelter Trust. Ours was the only Board he was a member of in Cape Town, so we were very privileged that he chose to support us in this way.
Board meetings will never be the same again. Charles had a great sense of humour, a very dry wit and a penchant for innuendo, which he often injected into what would have otherwise been very dull meetings! But at the same time, he fully understood what the Pride Shelter was about and was passionate in his support of Matron, Derick and the residents.
Charles was also an amazingly colourful character. Many will remember his entertainment alter ego, Dainti Delisha, and his monthly columns in EXIT.
We will miss you, Charles.
