About
Over its 6-year history, The Pride Shelter has aided and accommodated over 700 LGBTI+ individuals facing a crisis/trauma period in their lives. Rooted in a human-rights-based approach, our grass-roots organisation strives to promote dignity, self-respect and a sense of personal empowerment within all individuals across the LGBTI+ spectrum. We provide assistance to South African citizens, as well as legally affirmed refugees or asylum-seekers, and acknowledge the importance of our role as the only short-term residential facility providing psycho-social support for LGBTI+ persons on the African continent. We progressively strive toward expanding our organisational capacity, securing funds for sustainability, establishing strong referral pathways with other relevant organisations/NGO’s and improving our services based on client feedback.
