<![CDATA[PRIDE SHELTER TRUST - Blog]]>Fri, 16 Sep 2016 06:16:35 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[SWEDISH BUSINESSMAN SUPPORTS PRIDE SHELTER]]>Mon, 12 Sep 2016 22:00:00 GMThttp://www.pridesheltertrust.com/blog/swedish-businessman-supports-pride-shelterWe’d like to say a huge thank you to Krister Samuelsson, a Swedish businessman and owner of Radio Bohuslän, for buying us a brand new and much needed Elba gas/electric stove from Makro!

Krister is a frequent visitor to Cape Town and got in touch a couple of months ago as he was looking for an LGBTI cause to support in the city. After being given a tour of the shelter by Matron Jan and Board member Andrew Howard, he fell in love with the place and its mission and decided to start supporting us.

Along with the stove, which was installed today, he also bought us a new windy dryer for the back garden.

Krister – your support is very much appreciated. Thank you!

<![CDATA[PRIDE SHELTER ATTENDS FIRST PRIDE WINTER MARKET]]>Sat, 23 Jul 2016 13:41:24 GMThttp://www.pridesheltertrust.com/blog/pride-shelter-attends-first-pride-winter-marketToday, we had a stall at the first Pride Winter Market at the Sea Point Civic Centre. Organised by Outreach Africa and Cape Town Pride Festival, the market is an exciting new addition to the LGBTI events calendar of the Mother City.

Our Board chair, Ian McMahon, manned our stall and sold a range of items from DVDs and LPs to wine and home-made pasta. Thank you to everyone who bought something from us. Every rand raised will help us to continue to support LGBTI people during crisis periods in their lives.

<![CDATA[PRIDE SHELTER VISITED BY LOCAL COUNCILLORS]]>Mon, 04 Jul 2016 22:00:00 GMThttp://www.pridesheltertrust.com/blog/pride-shelter-visited-by-local-councillorsThis morning, we were visited by our local DA ward Councillor, Dave Bryant, Councillor Stuart Diamond, and Brandon Golding, the prospective DA councillor for the area.

It was great to give them a tour of the house and update them on our work, which we are planning to extend beyond offering short-term emergency accommodation to new training and counselling programmes for the residents and staff.

We appreciate the councillors' visit as it is important for us to maintain a solid working relationship with the City of Cape Town and draw on the support of our local elected representatives.

As he left, Mr Bryant promised to help us get all our trees pruned!
